It’s been a little over one year since COVID 19 spread globally in a rapid tempo. All our lives were put on hold. Our daily commute to work stopped, our holidays got cancelled, we stopped taking our kids to their training, and many things more stopped. All these ‘stops’ quickly resulted in promising results given the reduction in emissions globally. Now that’s a positive sign for climate change and COVID 19, right?! We as founders of the Green Stamp, felt as if our world finally got an opportunity to rest a little and heal from all the damage we humans created. There was just one thing we did not take into consideration. There’s a hidden conjunction between climate change and COVID 19 and this article will explain which one that is.
Climate change and COVID-19
After launching the Green Stamp back in November 2020, we never thought to write a blog article about climate change and COVID 19, but here we are. Why do we do this? A few months after launching, we reconnected with Nick, from Nick’s Adventures. We had personally met back in 2019 when we booked a tour at his agency in Bolivia. After launching the Green Stamp, we reconnected with Nick, which sparked an interesting conversation. We learned during this conversation that the preservation and conservation of wildlife and nature is something we both aim for both personally and professionally. Up until that moment, we had always thought that the effects due to climate change and COVID 19 were solely positive. Little did we know.
During an hour-long video call with Nick, we learned there is a whole lot more to say about the correlation between climate change and COVID 19. What decisions are made when a country loses its income out of tourism, because of COVID 19? How did COVID 19 change the lives of those working in the tourism industry in a country where there is no financial support system? What choices are being made to keep (the government’s) cash flow going? There is a hidden conjunction between climate change and COVID 19 and who’s better to explain this to you than the one experiencing this firsthand: Nick, located in Bolivia. Nick is the co-founder of Nick’s Adventures which is a legal Tour Operator in Bolivia.
While they offer different kinds of tours, the tours that get Nick most excited are the ones where there is wildlife involved. It won’t surprise you Nick mainly focuses on ecological wildlife experiences. And after reading our latest blog article we all know why it’s that important to preserve wildlife and work with ecological wildlife tours. Like we never thought to write about this topic, Nick never hoped to dive into the topic of climate change and COVID 19. But the current decisions demand more publicity and awareness.
Nick agreed to do a video interview with us to explain (in less than 20 minutes) what the hidden conjunction is between climate change and COVID 19. So, take a moment out of your day to sit down and press ‘PLAY’ because this is truly something that should worry us all.
We are super curious if you had heard of this hidden conjunction between climate change and COVID 19 before, and if you have heard about this before, what are your thoughts about this?
Because of our mission, we felt the need to shine a light on this topic to increase the awareness of the up until this point hidden conjunction between climate change and COVID 19.
